Session 1: Sleep in the Menopause 10th June

· Understanding sleep and why it becomes a problem in the menopause

· Dr Maja Schaedel explains the basic science of sleep, how it goes wrong and the vicious cycles we end up in

· Dr Zoe Schaedel describes the specific difficulties with sleep and the menopause

Session 2: Actions to improve sleep 17th June

· Dr Maja Schaedel focuses on our behaviour and how it can improve sleep

· The importance of physical activity and activity during the day with guest Fitness Instructor covering how to get moving and exercise that helps

· The importance of establishing a regular sleep routine

· The “Top Tips for Sleep”

Session 3: Relaxation & Reducing stress 24th

· Dr Maja Schaedel focuses on the link between stress and anxiety and insomnia

· Outlining the physiological response to stress and anxiety and how that can make sleep worse

· Sharing two relaxation strategies 

· Guest Breathwork Instructor sharing breathwork solutions

Session 4: Tackling the Racing Mind 1st July

· Dr Maja Schaedel focuses on the link between the way we think and insomnia

· Describing how we get stuck “thinking” and how to break out of this

· Reviewing strategies of managing mind and responding to thoughts

· Guest Yoga/Mindfulness Instructor to share a mindfulness practice

Course outline:

· 4 x 1hr online sessions on Zoom

· Course programme to accompany the video sessions to include materials, including:

o Relaxation strategies

o Top tips for sleep

o Action Plan template for better sleep
